CITY OF KENT SELECTS VIVATO TO DEVELOP DOWNTOWN WIRELESS HOT
ZONE
Vivato Wi-Fi Base Stations Will Provide Large Extended Hot Zone
SPOKANE, Wash., November 22, 2005 - Vivato, Inc., a leading
provider of extended-range Wi-Fi solutions, has completed the first
phase of a wireless system to support public Internet access within
the downtown area of the City of Kent, Washington. The City of Kent
installation, consisting of one Vivato Wi-Fi base station and several
microcell Access Points (APs), is the initial phase of the City
of Kent's plan to bring wireless broadband access to the public.
"We selected Vivato because we liked their wireless technology
solutions," said Paul Dunn, Technical Services Manager for
the City of Kent. "We believe Vivato can deliver the highest
bandwidth to meet our present and future needs," Dunn added.
The first phase extends the hot zone to most of downtown Kent, and
the public will be able to use this wireless hot zone to access
the Internet free for two hours each day.
The Vivato approach to Wi-Fi incorporates phased-array antennas
and a patented PacketSteering technology to provide up to
5 times the range of competing Wi-Fi AP systems. By requiring fewer
components, a Vivato installation features lower networking and
maintenance costs, dramatically lowering the Total Cost of Ownership
(TCO).
"We're pleased to work with the City of Kent and to add them
to our rapidly growing list of municipal customers," said Glenn
Booth, marketing director, Vivato. "It confirms the value proposition
that we offer our customers-that the Vivato approach delivers the
most cost-effective Wi-Fi solution on the market, providing greater
coverage for considerably less total cost of ownership than competing
solutions."
