VIVATO APPOINTS WIRELESS INDUSTRY VETERAN CARSON CHEN TO BOARD
OF DIRECTORS
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - March 15, 2004 - Vivato,
a wireless systems infrastructure company, today announced that
Carson Chen has been appointed to its board of directors. Chen was
the vice president and general manager of Cisco's Cable & Wireless
Platform Division.
"We are very pleased to welcome industry visionary and veteran
Carson Chen to our board of directors," said Donald E. Stalter,
president and CEO of Vivato. "His depth of experience in the
wireless industry and accomplishments in guiding executive teams,
creating new markets and growing products and businesses will be
a tremendous asset to Vivato as we continue to target precise market
segments with our extended coverage wireless systems."
"This is a great opportunity to contribute to Vivato's vision
of leveraging smart antenna technology to extend wireless networks
over very large areas," commented Mr. Chen. "There are
many applications, in cities and towns, around airports and warehouses,
and in hotels and on college campuses that render conventional wireless
equipment inefficient and prohibitively expensive. Vivato's disruptive
technology is reducing installation and ownership costs and helping
to accelerate the adoption of wireless networks in these large-area
markets. I'm excited to work with Vivato as it grows its business
and introduces new products."
An electrical engineer with more than 30 years of experience in
the development and marketing of broadband and high-speed telecommunication
technologies, Carson has spent 12 years as an executive at Cisco
Systems, helping to create Cisco's dominant industry position worldwide.
