VIVATO APPOINTS DONALD STALTER AS NEW CEO
SAN FRANCISCO, California - January 30, 2004 - Vivato,
a wireless infrastructure systems company, today appointed technology
veteran Donald Stalter as CEO.
Previously, Stalter served as the chief operating officer for Terawave
Communications. During that time he led the company in the deployment
of advanced optical and wireless technologies and significantly
increased Terawave's market presence, despite difficult economic
conditions in the telecommunications industry. Additionally, as
senior
vice president of marketing and business development for Terawave,
Stalter helped to secure more than $100 million in funding and introduced
Terawave's solutions to CATV, ISP's, telecom and enterprise customers
worldwide.
Stalter also held the position of vice president and general manager
of the digital transport division at ADC Telecommunications. In
this role Stalter worked closely with system operators to develop
the most powerful and versatile digital transport system in the
market. He also helped to build an installed customer base that
eclipsed all ADC
competitors. Stalter also managed a worldwide business unit for
Nortel from the United Kingdom.
"Donald's track record of management successes within world
class telecommunications suppliers Nortel and ADC Telecommunications,
combined with his extensive marketing and sales experience, provide
the perfect combination to establish Vivato as the premier Wi-Fi
large area coverage system provider," said Geoff Baehr, U.S.
Venture Partners and chairman of Vivato's board of directors.
"I look forward to building on the contributions that Ken
Biba has made. For customers that need to cover large, diverse areas
with Wi-Fi service, such as hotels, schools, seaports, cities, and
airports, Vivato's line of products provide many times the coverage
and range of alternative technologies, at a substantially lower
price," said Stalter. "We are fully funded through breakeven
and my goal is to lead the company toward long-term sustainable
growth while continuing to uphold the entrepreneurial vision and
innovative engineering that inspired our early progress."
