VIVATO Wi-Fi BRIDGE/ROUTER RECEIVES FCC APPROVAL
FCC Approval Paves the Way for Vivato to Market Complete WLAN
Solution
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - November 18, 2003 - Vivato,
a Wi-Fi infrastructure systems company, today announced that it
has received equipment authorization under Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) Part 15C rules for its Wi-Fi Bridge/Router. The
FCC approval stamps the Vivato Bridge/Router as a technological
innovation that operates efficiently within the guidelines of the
unlicensed broadband spectrum.
The dual-radio Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router is an 802.11b product
that performs multiple functions, including wireless backhaul and
the extension of Wi-Fi coverage and capacity. The product's configuration
flexibility allows it to interoperate as a system with Vivato's
Wi-Fi Switches or to function as a stand-alone device. One method
of deployment for the Bridge/Router is to use one radio to provide
backhaul from a Vivato switch, while the other radio functions as
an access point to increase Wi-Fi coverage.
"The FCC approval gives us the green light to offer customers
a complete line of standardized Wi-Fi solutions," said Phil
Belanger, vice president of marketing at Vivato. "The Vivato
Wi-Fi Bridge/Router is a versatile product that compliments the
Vivato switches in large scale deployments, but also provides small
and mid-sized businesses with an enterprise-class access point solution."
The U.S. list price for the Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router is $495.
The product, available through Vivato value added resellers, is
now shipping.
