VIVATO TO SHOW OFF WI-FI NETWORKING INNOVATION AT NETWORLD+INTEROP
Wi-Fi Infrastructure Company to Demonstrate Cohesive Wi-Fi System
Components that Combine Wi-Fi Switch, New Wi-Fi Bridge/Router and
Complete Management
NETWORLD + INTEROP 2003, LAS VEGAS, NEV. - April 28, 2003 -
Vivato, a Wi-Fi infrastructure company, is demonstrating the
capabilities of the new Vivato Wi-Fi System, which includes the
new Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router, the Vivato 2.4 GHz Indoor Wi-Fi
Switch, the Vivato 2.4 GHz Outdoor Wi-Fi Switch and the Vivato Vision
management software at Networld+Interop 2003 at the Las Vegas Convention
Center, from Monday, April 29 and through Thursday, May 1, 2003.
These components each have local intelligence that allows them to
operate as stand-alone devices, and can be unified into a cohesive
system and managed through a single console to enable the flexibility
demanded by large-scale deployments.
Vivato will showcase the agility of its Wi-Fi system to extend
the range of Wi-Fi in both indoor and outdoor environments with
its demonstrations in and around the N+I convention.
On the show floor, an active Vivato 2.4 GHz Indoor Wi-Fi Switch,
located above Vivato's N+I Booth #6961 will demonstrate the management
capabilities of the
configurable elements of the indoor switch and its Web user interface.
Vivato systems, like Ethernet switching systems, feature centralized
management and a distributed intelligence framework that includes
integrated security and access control and is interoperable with
existing Layer 2/Layer 3 local area network infrastructures. No
intermediate devices are required as the Vivato Wi-Fi system supports
standard 802.11b Wi-Fi clients.
Vivato partner TerraWave will host a new Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router,
to demonstrate the ability of the Bridge/Router to receive backhaul
from the switch. By placing the Wi-Fi Bridge/Router on the edge
of the Vivato Indoor Switch's 100-degree field of view, the Wi-Fi
System will extend Wi-Fi coverage beyond the switch's line of sight.
"Vivato's new Wi-Fi System is unique in its ability to deliver
range, flexibility, capacity and centralized management," said
Chris Marco, president of TerraWave Solutions. "Vivato's Wi-Fi
system is a tremendously exciting and important development for
large-scale Wi-Fi deployments."
To demonstrate how the new Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router works with
the Vivato 2.4 GHz Outdoor Switch to extend coverage, an active
Vivato outdoor switch will be mounted on the 11th floor of the Embassy
Suites Hotel located .05 miles from the front of the entrance of
the Las Vegas Convention Center providing Wi-Fi coverage to a variety
of locations in that area. The Vivato Outdoor Switch at the Las
Vegas Embassy Suites also will connect to a Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router,
located 0.8 miles away inside a suite in the east tower at the Las
Vegas Hilton Hotel, providing Wi-Fi coverage throughout the suite
and the hallway of the east wing of the Hilton. Vivato executives
will be conducting live demonstrations at the Las Vegas Hilton by
appointment.
"The Vivato Wi-Fi System mirrors the wildly successful Ethernet
switching model and will be a major catalyst in facilitating widespread
adoption of wireless networking," said Ken Biba, Vivato CEO
and Chairman. "The heart of the Vivato system-Wi-Fi switching-is
a very different, and we believe a better way to deploy Wi-Fi in
any location that requires large-scale coverage."
Note to Editors
Vivato Switches are designed to support standard 802.11b Wi-Fi devices.
Both the Vivato 2.4 GHz Indoor Wi-Fi Switch and the Vivato 2.4 GHz
Outdoor Wi-Fi Switch
provide three simultaneous beams of Wi-Fi throughout any coverage
area. Unique PacketSteering technology directs up to 33 Mbps
of Wi-Fi capacity to active clients through an electronically controlled
phased array antenna that creates high gain beams of Wi-Fi.
The Vivato Wi-Fi Bridge/Router extends coverage range and acts
as a coverage "filler" for those areas difficult to reach
or penetrate. It also provides Wireless Distribution System (WDS)
capabilities, as well as a point-to-point and point-to-multipoint
bridging above and beyond that available in existing 802.11 access
points.
Vivato is located at Booth #6961 at N+I 2003.
