VIVATO NAMED AMONG TOP 15 WIRELESS STARTUPS OF 2003
FierceWireless Recognizes Vivato as One of "The Fiercest
15" Wireless Startups of the Year
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Feb. 3, 2003 - Vivato, a
new Wi-Fi infrastructure company, today announced that it has been
selected as a member of FierceWireless's annual list of "The
Fiercest 15," designating it one of the top 15 wireless startups
of the year. FierceWireless, an internationally recognized email
newsletter for the wireless industry, evaluated more than 1,200
privately held wireless companies using vision, revenue potential,
quality of deals and partnerships, and competitive position as criteria.
"Vivato's groundbreaking switch technology rewrites the rules
of 802.11 deployment," said Stephen Wellman, editor of FierceWireless.
"This technology represents a huge leap in range and capacity
that promises to enable entirely new types of Wi-Fi deployments
and to create economic benefits unmatched by other Wi-Fi solutions."
Vivato has created the first Wi-Fi switch, a combination of phased
array antennas and Wi-Fi, which handles multiple, simultaneous Wi-Fi
transmissions to standard Wi-Fi clients at a distance of several
kilometers. Vivato's patent-pending PacketSteering technology
is packaged into a flat panel with integrated management, security
and deployment tools.
"FierceWireless is recognized for its advanced understanding
of wireless trends and businesses," said Ken Biba, Chairman
and CEO of Vivato. "Vivato is honored to be selected as a member
of The Fiercest 15. We intend to make significant contributions
in furthering the capabilities, acceptance and economic viability
of Wi-Fi."
The Fiercest 15 celebrates the spirit of being "fierce"
- daring to be innovative and aggressive, even in a difficult market
environment. The list is available in today's issue of FierceWireless
and on the FierceWireless Web site at www.fiercewireless.com.
