VIVATO, INTEL and KAST TELECOM "ILLUMINATE" BAY OF
CANNES
MEDIA ALERT - May 14, 2003 - Vivato (www.vivato.net)
and Intel Corporation have created one of the world's largest Wi-Fi
"hotspots" in conjunction with France's KAST Telecom.
The Vivato Wi-Fi switch, which dramatically extends the range of
wireless Internet connectivity, is being used to provide wireless
broadband access along the Croisette and the Bay of Cannes, allowing
anyone with a wireless LAN-compatible computer or personal digital
device to gain access to the Internet.
The technology is not yet certified for use in France, but the
technology demonstration was created to show the potential of Wi-Fi
technology. Actual trial deployments of Vivato's Wi-Fi switching
technology are in progress in locations around the world, and certification
with the Federal Communications Commission is pending.
